Tyres are an important part of your vehicle, do not take them for granted. Always make sure they are ready before you drive out. Your life and those of your loved ones may depend on this.

When it comes to your tyres there are a few things to bare in mind.

For one you have to check your tyres for wear and tear; worn tyres mean your vehicle will have less traction on the road, a very dangerous situation when you have to deal with corners.

Another thing you have to watch for is your tyre pressure. If you have too much pressure your tyre’s center tread can wear out quickly and you will also have an uncomfortable ride. Too little pressure can result in an increase in fuel consumption, tyre damage and in a worst-case scenario even a blowout. Check your manual for the right air pressure.

You must also keep an eye for damage to the tyres you can easily see. Check for bulges, cuts, cracks or any other form of damage. Sometimes bad tyres are just a symptom of something else that is wrong. A mechanical defect in the vehicle – like in some cases the steering system, brake system and even wheel alignment can cause abnormal wear and tear on your tyres.
